[. . . ] 4-453-771-11(1) Location of Controls The numbers used for the button or jack names in the illustration below are also used in all operation explanations hereafter.   Basic Operations Playing a music disc You can play the following types of discs with this unit.  udio CDs on which CD-DA tracks are recorded A in CD-DA disc format C  D-R/CD-RW discs on which MP3 or WMA audio files are recorded in ISO 9660 Level 1/ Level 2 or Joliet   Example of folder structure and playing order The playing order of the folders and files is as follows: Folder MP3/WMA file 1 Connect the USB device to the (USB) port . 2 Press USB  to turn on the USB function. If the USB device does not have a volume label*1 “STORAGE DRIVE” scrolls once on the display, then “xxxFLDR”*2 appears on the display. [. . . ] If you try to play one of these files, the unit plays the next unprotected audio file. 2 Press and hold TUNE/ 1 Connect the USB device to the port . (USB) Press USB , CD , RADIO FM/AM  or AUDIO IN  while the unit is turned off. The power turns on directly in the selected function. To use the direct power-on function + or   until the frequency digits begin to change on the display. The unit automatically scans the radio frequencies and stops when it finds a clear station. If you cannot tune to a station using the automatic tuning mode, press TUNE/ + or   repeatedly to change the frequency step by step. When an FM stereo broadcast is received, “ST” lights up on the display. 2 Press USB  to turn on the USB function. 3 Press USB MEMORY SELECT  until “SELECT?” appears on the display.  Press VOLUME + or  . For the 31st step, “VOL MAX” is displayed. To adjust the volume To listen through headphones Cancel Resume Press   twice. When you Play press   after you cancel Resume Play, playback starts from the beginning of the first track/file. Select a folder on an MP3/ WMA disc Select a track/ file . 4 Press DISPLAY/ENTER . 5 Press  or   repeatedly to select a memory number. The memory name appears. The name will be displayed in various types, depending on the specifications of the USB device. If only one memory can be selected, proceed to step 6. Connect headphones to the  (headphones) jack . Press TUNE/ (Folder) + or  Press  or  . You can skip tracks/files one by one. Compatible USB devices Compatibility requirements for the USB devices are as follows. Before using with this unit, check that your device meets the requirements.  Compliance with USB 2. 0 (Full Speed)  Supports Mass Storage mode* * Mass Storage mode is a mode that allows a USB device to become accessible to a host device, enabling file transfers. Most USB devices support Mass Storage mode. Tip 6 Press DISPLAY/ENTER . Press MODE  repeatedly while the USB device is stopped. You can select normal play mode (playback in sequence of all files on the USB device), folder play mode (“ ” for all files in the specified folder on the USB device), repeat play mode (“ ” for repeating all files/“ 1” for repeating one file), or shuffle play mode (“SHUF”). For details, see “Selecting play mode” on the back page. If the stereo FM reception is noisy, press MODE  until “MONO” appears on the display. You will lose the stereo effect, but the reception will improve. Find a point in a Hold down  or   track/file during playback, and release the button at the desired point. When locating a point in pause status, press   to start playback after the desired point is found. To change play modes Other Operations Using the display You can check information about the currently playing audio file from the disc/USB device using the display. You can change the play mode only when playback of a track or MP3/WMA file is stopped. If you press MODE  while a track or MP3/WMA file is playing or in pause status, “PUSH STOP” appears. Be sure to stop playback by pressing   before changing the play mode. Note The total time of the program play will be displayed up to “99:59” for the audio CD. (If the total time count is more than 99:59, “--:--” will be displayed. ) In the case of MP3/WMA discs, the total time is not displayed and “--:--” will always be displayed. 1 Connect the AUDIO IN jack  to the line output jack of the portable digital music player or other component using an audio connection cable (not supplied). Selecting play mode You can set the unit to play tracks or files repeatedly or in random order while a disc/USB device is stopped. Creating your own program (Program Play) You can arrange the playing order of up to 25 tracks/audio files (MP3/WMA files) on a disc/USB device. Music discs encoded with copyright protection technologies  This product is designed to playback discs that conform to the Compact Disc (CD) standard. Recently, various music discs encoded with copyright protection technologies are marketed by some record companies. Please be aware that among those discs, there are some that do not conform to the CD standard and may not be playable by this product. CD/MP3/WMA player The CD player does not play or “NO DISC” is displayed even when a CD is in place.  Place the CD with the label side facing forward.  Take out the CD and leave the CD compartment open for about an hour to dry moisture condensation.
