[. . . ] System-initiated Hibernation will not occur until the battery has discharged to a critical low-battery condition. To fully discharge a battery pack: 1. When the battery light turns off indicating that the battery pack is fully charged, access the Power Schemes tab, select Start > Control Panel > Appearance and Themes icon > Power Options icon > Power Schemes tab. Record the 2 settings in the Plugged In column and the 2 settings in the Running on Batteries column so that you can reset them after the calibration. Hardware Guide 3­9 Battery Pack 3. Use the drop-down lists to set the 4 options in both columns to Never. Disconnect the notebook from the AC power source, but do not turn off the notebook. The drive that comes standard with the notebook is a fixed hard drive. A hard drive is usually used for the permanent storage of data files and software such as system files, applications, and drivers. Other (optional) external drives that can be connected to the notebook with either a USB or 1394 connector are high-capacity disk drives. A diskette drive is sometimes called a floppy disk drive or floppy drive. Optical drives are used to store or transport data and to play music and movies. The notebook can read or write to optical drives as described in the following table.
