SimpliCD ROM is easily accessed as a folder on your desktop and within Windows Explorer. Installing and Using Software For more information, and to learn how to use these powerful applications, install SimpliCD on your PC and refer to the online help guide. Roxio Roxio has mastering, packet writing, and duplication software. There are three main Roxio applications: · CD Copier: Lets you copy any CD. · DirectCD Format Utility: Prepares a CD-R or CD-RW disc so you can directly copy files to it in much the same way that you copy files to a floppy disk or removable drive. You can then use Windows Explorer, or any other program that can read from and write to a drive letter, to copy files to a CD. · EasyCD Creator: Lets you make your own CDs, including music CDs that can be played on your home or car stereo CD player, or data CDs for storing computer data such as the files and folders on your hard disk. Using Your PlexWriter This chapter explains how to use your PlexWriter drive and how to load, handle and care for your CDs. CAUTION: Ensure your PlexWriter is in a horizontal position. Plextor does not guarantee the drive's performance in a vertical position. What Media to Use Use the right media!Your PlexWriter drive's capabilities change depending on which type of compact disc you use. It currently supports these types: · CD-ROM: You can immediately play or read prerecorded discs, such as audio CDs and data discs. To achieve 24X CD-R writing speed you must use certified 24X media; and to achieve 10X CD-RW writing speed you must use high-speed CD-RW media. See "Recommended Media" on page 37 for a list of approved media at the time this manual was printed, and see the Plextor web site at http://www. plextor. com for an updated list. You can write to high-speed CD-RW discs only on drives that support this new media. Drives that are capable of writing to high-speed CD-RW media, such as the PlexWriter 24/10/40U , are identified by a "Compact Disc ReWritable High Speed" logo.
