[. . . ] To disconnect the set from the mains completely, withdraw the mains plug from the wall socket. To improve radio reception For MW (LW), the set is provided with a built-in aerial which to function best should be placed on a non-metallic surface e. For FM reception extend the pigtail aerial at the back of the set completely to obtain optimum reception. Press and hold down the 4, 7 buttons to set and adjust both the hours and the minutes. With your finger held down on 7, the time will increase rapidly and continuously from minutes to hours. Pressing 4 will allow you to adjust the time slowly back minute by minute. To safeguard the clock time from being accidentally adjusted, turn the clock control to the RUN position. If you have selected the radio mode, make sure you have adjusted the volume loud enough to wake you. BUZ on ALARM 1 is a low tone buzzer while BUZ on ALARM 2 is high tone. You can switch off the alarm in three ways: Unless you choose to cancel the alarm completely, the ALARM RESET option will be automatically selected after 59 minutes from the time your alarm first goes off. To retain the clock time and the set alarm time (s) in the event of a power failure or disconnection, insert a 9 volt battery, type 6F22 (not supplied) into the battery compartment: this will act as a power back up. For clarity, the battery back up is used to retain the set clock and alarm time (s) only. As soon as the power supply returns, the display will indicate the correct time. Before inserting the battery, connect the power plug to the wall outlet. The service life depends on how often and for how long the power supply fails. Keep your finger on the button and the display will begin to count down from 59 to 00 minutes. You can switch off the radio before the slumber time has elapsed: To cancel the SLUMBER function, press SLUMBER OFF/REPEAT ALARM. notes: The slumber function does not affect the alarm setting (s). If during SLUMBER you have turned down the volume and you have an alarm set in radio mode, make sure you have adjusted the volume loud enough to wake you up the next day.
