Therefore, you can copy an audio file recorded by the FR-2LE to a personal computer's hard disk drive or export it to a computer application such as Digidesign Pro Tools. The table below shows the approximate recording time for each recording format on a 1GB card. Note that actual recording time may be slightly different depending on card manufacturers. You can set them up using the "Setup" menu in the MENU mode, however, you can also set up the first four items below using the quick setup mode. For details about the actual procedure in the quick setup mode, see the next page. Quick setup mode: In the quick setup mode, you can quickly set up the first four items in the table above from the Home screen, without the need of entering the MENU mode. At the right of the Home screen, there are four icons for the quick setup items. Using these icons, you can make settings by following the procedure shown on the next page. <Note>: The setting you make in the quick setup mode is immediately reflected to the setting of the appropriate menu item on the "Setup" menu in the MENU mode, and vice versa. 55 FR-2LE Field Memory Recorder (Chapter 5: Recording/playback) How to make setting in the quick setup mode You can make setting in the quick setup mode by the procedure below. The unit enters the quick setup mode and " " of " " starts flashing on the Home screen. This shows that the setting item is "ALC (Auto Level Control)". In this condition, pressing the [+] or [-] key switches the flashing item in the following order. 2) Use the [+] or [-] key to select the desired setting item and press the [MENU/ENTER] key. The current setting of the selected item starts flashing and you can now select the option. " and press the [MENU/ENTER] key, " " (the For example, if you select " default) starts flashing. 3) Use the [+] or [-] key to select the desired option and press the [MENU/ENTER] key. The selected option is set, and " " now starts flashing. To make setting of another item, repeat steps 2) and 3) above. 4) After you complete setting, press the [STOP/CANCEL] key to exit the quick setup mode. See the following pages for details about each item. 56 FR-2LE Field Memory Recorder (Chapter 5: Recording/playback) ALC (Auto Level Control) setting (if needed) The "ALC" item in the quick setup mode allows you to enable the auto level control function or the limiter When you record a microphone signal, use of the limiter function will help prevent clipping audio and keep the appropriate recording signal level. The setting is effective to both the L and R channels. Off (default) On LIMIT Both the ALC and the limiter functions are disabled. The limiter function is enabled. <Tip>: You can also make ALC setting using the "ALC" item on the "Setup" menu in the MENU mode (see page 91). HPF (High Pass Filter) on/off setting (if needed) The "HPF" item in the quick setup mode allows you to select on or off for the high-pass filter (the default is "OFF"). The filter of the unit is a high-pass type with a cutoff frequency of 100 Hz and a slope of -12 dB/oct. This filter is effective to prevent the unwanted wind noise or low-frequency noise when you make outdoor recording using an external microphone. The filter is effective to both the L and R channels. <Tip>: You can also make HPF on/off setting using the "HPF" item on the "Setup" menu in the MENU mode (see page 92). Phantom power on/off setting (if needed) The "P48" item in the quick setup mode allows you to select on or off for the phantom power (the default is "Off"). If you make recording using a condenser microphone which requires the phantom power, set this item to "ON". The phantom power is supplied to the [ANALOG IN] XLR connectors of the L and R channels. <Tip>: You can also make phantom power on/off setting using the "Phantom" item on the "Setup" menu in the MENU mode (see page 95). Recording source selection (must) The "SRC" item in the quick setup mode allows you to select the recording source between an external source fed to the [ANALOG IN] connector or the internal microphones.
