Connect the phone device and the EXT. port with a phone cable. c Important: a single phone line, make sure you connect the phone device to the EXT. If any errors are reported, follow the solution provided in the report. Making Basic Fax Settings Check the following settings when using the fax for the first time, and change the settings if necessary. ❏ Header ❏ Line Type ❏ Receive Mode (automatic or manual) ❏ Rings to Answer 111 User's Guide Faxing (Fax-capable printers only) ❏ DRD Setting the Fax Header Enter the sender name and the fax number that appears as the header on out going faxes. Select Fax Header, enter your sender name within 40 characters, and then press Done. Select Your Phone Number, enter your fax number within 20 digits, and then press Done. Setting the Line Type Make the following settings when using the printer in environments that use extensions and require external access codes, such as 0 and 9, to get an outside line. Enter the external access code used for your phone system, and then press Done. When sending a fax to an outside fax number, enter # (hash) instead of the actual access code. Setting Receiving Mode The printer automatically receives faxes by default. After the set number of rings occurs, the printer starts receiving a fax. If you do not use the fax feature often, or want to receive a fax after you answer the phone, change the receiving mode from automatic to manual. !Caution: not connected a telephone to the printer, make sure that the receiving mode is automatic. Select Fax Settings > Receive Settings > Auto Answer, and then change the setting. Otherwise, you cannot receive voice calls and voice messages are not recorded. See the documentation provided with the telephone for more details on its settings. 1. Setting the DRD (Distinctive Ring Pattern) If you are using a distinctive ring service on your phone line that allows you to have several phone numbers on one phone line and assign different ring patterns to each, set the DRD setting to allow the printer to detect the ring pattern assigned to your fax number. Select On if the setting options are only On and Off. Registering Recipients of Faxes to a Contact List Registering frequently used fax numbers to a contact list allows you to easily send faxes. After registering each recipient as a speed dial entry, you can group some speed dial entries together to send a fax to multiple recipients at a time.
