[. . . ] Under no circumstances must the device be placed in water or other liquid, or come into contact with such. â· Should the device become moist or wet, remove the mains plug from the socket immediately. Special Safety Measures for this Machine Only fill the water tank with cold water!Please rinse the appliance 2 or 3 times with cold water before using it for the first time. Make sure that the appliance is switched off (switch located on the rear of the appliance in position , , OFF/0"). Before inserting the mains lead into the socket, check whether the voltage you intend to use complies with that of the machine. Only connect the machine to a properly installed safety socket, 230 V/50 Hz. Replace the permanent filter, put the cup on to the stand and close the lid of the water tank. Descaling is necessary when the time needed to prepare coffee becomes considerably longer. Only commercially available descaling products based on citric acid should be used. Before cleaning the machine you should always remove the mains lead and wait until the machine has cooled down. The cup and permanent filter should be cleaned in the usual manner in soapy water.
