Press Stop to return to standby mode. 31/12 2002 TUE 10:00 FaxOnly STANDARD Sending Methods Manual Sending Via the Handset Use manual sending via the handset if you want to speak with the other party before sending a fax to them. With manual sending via the handset, you dial, converse normally and when they are ready to receive your fax, press the Start/Copy button to begin sending. For manual sending via the handset, you need to have the optional handset or a telephone connected to your FAX-L2000. Memory Sending Memory sending allows you to send a document easily and quickly. This method of sending scans the document into memory, and as the first page of a multipage document is being scanned, the FAX-L2000 already begins calling the other party and transmitting the information even as the remaining pages are being scanned. To use memory sending, you load the document, dial the fax number and press the Start/Copy button. See page 6-20 for more details on memory sending. Chapter 6 Sending Faxes 6-15 Sending Faxes Since the FAX-L2000 is multitasking, you can even scan a document into the memory while sending a document, receiving a document, or printing a report. 6-16 Sending Faxes Chapter 6 Dialling Methods There are several ways of dialling the number of the party you want to send to: Regular Dialling Use the numeric buttons to dial the recipient's fax number. One-Touch Speed Dialling Press the One-Touch Speed Dialling button (1 to 32) under which you have registered the number you want to send to. See Chapter 5 "Speed Dialling" for details on registering and using One-Touch Speed Dialling. Coded Speed Dialling Press Coded Dial and enter the two-digit code (00 to 99) under which you have registered the number you want to send to. The display continues to show these three displays in order while the fax is sending. When the FAX-L2000 finishes sending the fax, the display shows the TRANSMITTING OK message. Note If an error occurs during sending, the FAX-L2000 will print out an error report. See "Faxing Problems" on page 13-24 for details about errors. Chapter 6 Sending Faxes 6-21 Sending Faxes Adding Pages to the Document in the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) The FAX-L2000 Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) can hold up to 30 A4-, 30 letter-, or 20 legal-size pages at a time when the document feed lever is set to automatic document feed. If your document has more pages than this, you can add pages while the FAX-L2000 is scanning. Wait until the last sheet in the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) starts feeding. Insert the first new page so that it overlaps the last page by about 2. 5 cm. 2. 2. 5 cm Wait until all pages of your document have been scanned completely before starting a new job. Note 6-22 Sending Faxes Chapter 6 Cancelling Sending If you want to stop sending before the transmission is finished, do the following. Press Stop. If you are sending manually, the transmission is cancelled immediately. If you are sending from memory, the following appears in the display: CANCEL DURING TX/RX?To cancel sending, press . If you change your mind and want the unit to continue sending, press the # button. The FAX-L2000 will continue sending normally. Caution After you cancel a fax, you may need to open the operation panel to remove the document from the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF). See "Removing the Document From the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF)" on the following pages. [. . . ] Remote receiving ID Glossary The two-digit code that enables you to manually activate fax reception using a telephone that is connected to the FAX-L2000. Remote reception Activating fax reception by answering a telephone that is connected to the FAX-L2000, but that is not located near the FAX-L2000. You need to dial a remote receiving ID number to start remote reception. Report A document printed by the FAX-L2000 and containing information about the faxes it has sent or received. [. . . ]
