[. . . ] Clothes Dryer Side Exhaust Conversion Kit Instructions Clothes Dryer Side Exhaust Conversion Kit Instructions 5070000698 CLOTHES DRYER BOTTOM EXHAUST CONVERSION INSTRUCTIONS Your clothes dryer is manufactured as a rear exhaust unit. Using the Side Exhaust Conversion Kit, the dryer can be configured to exhaust from the side of the unit. · Do not use these instructions or the materials contained in the Clothes Dryer Side Exhaust Conversion Kit for any other purpose than that for which they are intended, which is the conversion of the clothes dryer from a rear exhaust unit to a side exhaust unit. · As the manufacturer has no control over the customer's selection of the service technician who will perform the work described in this manual, the manufacturer can not be held responsible for death, injury, or property damage that may result from work performed improperly or from the use of inferior tools and/or materials. Carefully read and understand these instructions before attempting the appliance conversion. [. . . ] 7) Remove the top panel and back panels, being careful to remove the power cord from the back panel as shown in Figure 2. CAUTION POSSIBLE DRYER DAMAGE: Do not attempt to cut the exit duct hole in the dryer side panel unless 1) you have the proper tools with which to do so, and 2) you know how to properly use them. 17) Use a 4" diameter cutting tool to cut the exit duct hole into the dryer side panel. 18) Install the supplied straight duct as shown in Figure 9. Figure 5 Figure 7 Figure 9 11) Remove the screw that secures the duct bracket as shown in Figure 6. Figure 6 NOTE: The Exit Duct Template is printed on the back cover of this manual. 13) Cut out the Exit Duct Hole Template from the back cover of this manual. 14) Apply the Exit Duct Template to the dryer side panel location shown in Figure 8, matching the round edge of the template to the round contour on the dryer side panel. 19) Use a supplied self tapping screw to secure the straight duct to the dryer floor as shown in Figure 10. Figure 11 15) Using the Exit Duct Hole Template as a guide, mark the center point for the 4" diameter exit duct hole through the template and onto the dryer side. 16) Remove the template. U Be careful to avoid electric shock (all dryers) or fire/explosion (gas dryers). Carefully follow dryer installation instructions. · · · · · Drill bit (3/8" suggested) for hole drill pilot hole. Hammer. Tools required: · Special cutting tool (cutting tool kit purchased separately as Bosch kit # WTZ1310 or Siemens kit # WZ20410). · 1-7/16" wrench or socket with long handled breaker bar or ratchet wrench. · 1" hole drill with (3/8") pilot bit, suitable for metal. Kit parts supplied: · 1) Long duct · 2) Elbow (duct) · 3) Cover (for existing rear exhaust hole) · 4) Flange for short duct (included with short duct) · 5) Short duct · 6) Duct support · 7) Aluminized duct tape (not shown) Cutting 4" exhaust duct hole in side panel: · 1) Cut out paper template on next page, then place inside dryer left rear corner next to side panel. · 2) Use punch/awl & hammer to mark center of pilot hole in side panel so drill bit won't skip. · 3) Using 3/8" drill bit, drill pilot hole in side panel. · 4) Using 1" hole saw (with 3/8" pilot bit), carefully cut 1" pilot hole ­ taking care to prevent saw from seizing when bit or saw breaks through side panel.
