Please read the section on "Installation" to make sure you know all about this. Before using your dishwasher for the first time, do not forget that the nominal voltage and current type indicated on the rating plate of your machine must be the same as the nominal voltage and current type at the installation site. The necessary electrical fusing is also given on the rating plate. q Child safety q Packaging parts (e. g. [. . . ] Tap water with a hardness above 4°d (German degree) must therefore be softened for machine washing. The water softener is treated (regenerated) automatically and at regular intervals with salt solution. The salt consumption needed for regeneration thus depends on the local water hardness. Your local water company will provide you with information about water hardness in your area. To ensure optimum regeneration of the water softener: - the water softening system must be set to the local water hardness; - the dishwasher salt container must always be filled with special salt. If you use phosphate free detergents containing enzymes, add salt starting from 4°dH (7° TH). Level 2 If your water hardness is "level 2", only regenerating salt will be necessary. Levels 3 and 5 (water softener adjustment) If your water is level 3 or 5, proceed as follows: 1. slide out the lower basket and unscrew the cap of the salt container; 2. turn the two-position selector anticlockwise from position - to position + with the aid of a blunt knife or a screwdriver. AA01 Levels 4 and 5 (adjustment on the machine) If your water is level 4 or 5, open the door and turn the selector on the upper left-hand corner of the machine from position 1 to 2. 12 AA03 With a water hardness of level 5 both adjustments must be made. 13 Filling with special salt Only use salt designed specifically for use in dishwashers. After loading your machine always close the door, as an open door can be a hazard. 20 Operating instructions 1. Check the filters Ensure they are clean and properly positioned (see cleaning instructions). 2. Pull the lower basket out and arrange the saucepans, plates and cutlery in it. Pull the upper basket out and arrange the plates, saucers, glasses and cups etc. Measure out detergent Add the required amount of detergent into the dispenser according to the "Washing programmes" chart and close the lid. 6. Set the programme Turn the programme selector dial clockwise until the programme marker on the knob is in line with the letter corresponding to the programme you wish to select. 9. If you wish to interrupt the wash programme at any time press the button again. 21 10. At the end of the washing programme At the end of the washing programme the machine stops automatically. The On/Off indicator light remains on until the On/Off button is depressed. 11. Switch off the dishwasher Switch off the dishwasher by pressing the On/Off button. When the wash programme has finished, it is recommended that the dishwasher is unplugged and the water tap turned off. Do not open the door during the hot phase: this may cause hot water escape. Please note the following before installing: When the door is opened after the programme has ended, steam escapes from the machine as a normal operation feature and may cause nonwatertight bonded worktops to swell and warp.
